It’s Stump the Preacher Sunday, and I am on the edge of stumped. It’s near impossible to encapsulate all Reen and I explored into one catch phrase; so for now I offer only a bite-sized portion … who is Jesus to you?
By answering this question, we end up with multiple Jesi, don’t we? Is my version the ‘right’ Jesus, or is yours?
Henri Rousseau said “God created man in his own image. And man, being a gentleman, returned the favour.”
Voltaire said, “In the beginning God created man in His own image, and man has been trying to repay the favor ever since.”
C. S. Lewis said “There are two kinds of people: those who say to God “thy will be done” and those to whom God says “all right, then, have it your way.”
There’s a famous notion put forth by Robert Frost, Albert Schweitzer and others … the notion that when we look into a well (for Jesus) we see ourselves (and think that it’s Jesus).
How do we grow out of a place of division, and into a place of solidarity with our faith in Jesus?
Will we find the answer on Sunday? Ha, your guess is as good as mine!
