Minister's Musing February 28th, 2025

Bright Moments.
10 Million stars and the stories they could tell;
Epiphany star words;
A flash of realization;
Cheeks glowing with warmth, affection, and nourishment;
A transfigured Jesus so bright we cannot look.

These are beautiful, bright moments. Moments that take us out of our ordinary for just long enough to help us see the world and our lives in new ways. Just long enough for something in us to change … maybe forever.

These bright moments are revelatory – they can reveal something to us we hadn’t seen or known before. Sometimes, like the examples above, they illuminate what’s possible, that joy is real, and that love is almost everywhere.

On Sunday we’ll hear the first part of Luke’s account of Jesus’ transfiguration – up the mountain with Moses and Elijah shining bright. What we won’t read is that the next day when they came down the mountain a crowd met them with all the ordinary grumblings of life.

Along with inspiration, these revelatory moments also offer us challenge. They can illuminate what’s missing, what’s in excess, what we want to hide, where we have gone astray.

On this last Sunday of the season of Epiphany let’s take stock of what has been uncovered during this season of light. And, then let’s see what and how we want to transform.
See you Sunday.
Julie.
