IT’S PENTECOST. WOOOHOOOO.

CELEBRATION TIME!!!!

This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday, often thought of as the birth of the church.

There will be red and yellow ribbons to grab on your way in the door to wave about at the start of service. If you had some orange ribbon at home, feel free to cut off a strip and bring it in to wave about. AND … should you feel so moved, please wear orange, yellow or red clothes!!!!

Let’s be fiery and windy and celebrate!!!

Part of the celebration is a real treat! The Spirit Singers will offer us reflection and scripture through music this Sunday. We will learn more about the Holy Spirit through song.

Pentecost in modern times is a celebration that the Holy Spirit swept through the believers and LIT THEM ON FIRE to go and spread the way of Jesus through act and word with anyone and everyone they would meet on their path. We can read about “the moment” in Acts 2: 1-4.

Some say we are to harken our minds back to the Old Testament and the times when God hovered like a cloud or was like a pillar of fire … moments when God was unmistakenly close.

Today our story has everyone with a tongue of fire above their head. What could this mean? Some might say it means the Temple has now mobilized to the streets with each and every one of us. We have caught on fire for the work of the Creator, and the Holy Spirit has energized us to actively follow (and share) the way of Jesus! Hallelujah we are not alone in this work. Let’s meet on Sunday and energize each other!!!!
