Rev. Julie - August 25th 2023

This Sunday we’ll hear an exchange between Jesus and Peter. Jesus asks the disciples who the crowds say he is; and then asks Peter who he thinks Jesus is.

Who do you say Jesus is?

Is Jesus the son of God? Is Jesus the Messiah for you?

Is Jesus a really smart person with lots of philosophical wisdom to share? A model for you to follow because he was wise?

Is Jesus a powerful social activist? A regular human who just happened to have an endless amount of energy and a faith so strong he could heal people?

Is Jesus the one and only who died and was resurrected? The tomb was literally empty?

Who do you say Jesus is?

And, then, what are the ramifications to your life because of who you have confessed Jesus to be? How does this understanding of Jesus affect how you move in the world? (Oh, I can’t wait for all of us to talk about this on Sunday!)

GRAB A PIECE OF PAPER (or a whole journal), right now. At the top of the page write “WHO IS JESUS FOR ME?” And then start writing and keep writing … see what you come up with.
